Familiar scent families
Useful starting points
Earth, damp, forest, smoke, decay, medicinal, incense, floral, carnival, swamp, and old-wood families can support many scenes.
THE HAUNT METHOD / INTERACTIVE TOOL
What should your haunt smell like?
Choose what you are building, what you want the smell to suggest, and the conditions in your space. The selector recommends a scent profile, strength, delivery method and placement.
Safety first: this selector recommends scent families and delivery types—not branded products. Use only a formulation intended for the chosen method and follow the manufacturer’s directions.
Compatible delivery formats
Start with the smell you want the visitor to notice, then find a product specifically made for the delivery method in your space.

Specialty accords
These accents need an actual compatible formulation. “Electrical” means a storm-like fragrance accord—never generated ozone.
Apply only as the product directs, away from skin, food, flames, and guest contact. Best for a small story-relevant point.
Use only a refill or formulation approved for that scent machine, fogger, diffuser, or nebulizer. Do not improvise cross-use.
A contained block or passive medium can localize scent near one display. Ventilation and outdoor wind still affect performance.
